Club News:

Lion Donna, our Immediate Past President, extends a special thanks to all Club members:

"I want to thank each and every member for their support and willingness to serve this past year. A year ago I had set several goals for our club, along with the challenges of our Immediate International past president "Jim" Irving to set sail on four ships - Membership, Fellowship, Partnership and Leadership.

I believe with your help, you have assisted me in meeting these goals and challenges. I know you will continue to be supportive to our in-coming president Lion Bill as he sets his goals for the year. I have enjoyed serving with you as King Lion for the betterment of our community. We have a great club!"

The Club will hold its Annual Picnic at the Cooper Pavilion in Big Flats Community Park on August 14th at 6:30 PM. Members are urged to bring their spouses or significant others plus a dish to pass and utensils. The Club will supply hot dogs, hamburgers, and drinks. The cost will be $2.00 per person to defray the cost of meat and pavilion rental. Hope to see you there!

Lion Gene Herber wrote a thoughtful report on the Community Days 5K Race which he headed up in June, and this report can be seen in the attached document.

Board Meeting - July 17th

The Board of Directors took the following actions at the July 17th meeting:

1999 - 2000 Community Service Summary:

The Big Flats Lions Club was a busy organization in the past year, donating 2,822 hours to various community efforts. Major hours were given to the Steele Memorial Library, Big Flats Community Food Pantry, National Warplane Museum, Big Flats Historical Society, Community Days, Clemmens Center, Adopt-A-Highway, and Lions Camp Badger.

Financial gifts totaled $3,735, which came from the Community Service Fund. We gave money or supplies to Lions Clubs International Foundation, Southern Tier Association for the Visually Impaired, Finger Lakes Region Lions Hearing Foundation, Big Flats Community Food Pantry, Big Flats Library, Guide Dog Foundation, Leader Dogs, Canine Helpers for the Handicapped, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Arctic League, Journey for Sight, Cinderella Softball, Little League, Big Flats Youth Basketball League, Lions Camp Badger, and Lions Eye Bank of Delaware Valley.

It certainly was an outstanding year.
