Club News:

A big congratulation goes out to IPP Lion Donna Barto, who was recently presented with the 100% President Award by the Zone Chairman, Lion Mike Eisenhart. Among other things, this award recognizes success in the following areas: Compliance with bylaws, elimination of unpaid balances over $50, a net increase in membership, submission of all required reports, completion of at least one major service activity and one major fundraiser, completion of PU 101 (for new officers), personal attendance at 2 zone meetings and one conference. Congratulations Lion Donna!

Congratulations are also in order for all the members who earned the perfect attendance award for the past year. They are Lions Donna Barto, Gary Bernhardt, Stephan Connors, Herb Cox, Al Draht, John Farr, Gene Herber, John Hoos, Norval Johnston, Pat Johnston, Harry King, Jane King, and Bim VanEtten. Congratulations to all!

If you grew wide-eyed at the balance of the Community Service Fund this month, it reflects the recent in-flow of cash from our largest fundraiser, the 50/50 raffle. At this time there are fewer than 40 unsold tickets. Thanks to all who turned them in so far! Drawings will begin at October 3rd meeting, so please turn in any proceeds or unsold tickets to Lion Marshall Updike as soon as possible.

Board Action:

Lion Dick Wardell was appointed as Program Chair for the upcoming year, and the calendar's been filling up rapidly.

A Fundraising Committee was formed for the purpose of examining new opportunities in this regard. Members are Lion Don Williams, Lion Skip Smith, and Lion Ed Fairbrother. A sampling of recently reviewed items includes: BBQ for the annual opening of the Historical Society Museum, BBQ for the annual School House Reunion, BBQ for the Toys for Tots motorcycle rally, free coffee & doughnuts at the Campbell rest stop, and concessions at the annual air show. Ideas are welcome.

District News:

Please be reminded that the Fall Conference will be held November 10-11, 2000 at the Holiday Inn in Gang Mills N. Y. The overall Chairperson will be Immediate Past President Louise Kosty of the Painted Post Lions Club. There will be a Friday night talent show, which is chaired by Lion Kathy Spear.

Lions Apparel:

Lion Norval Johnston informs us that the following items are in stock and available: Lions cap for Spring (mesh back), $8; Lions Cap for Winter, $9; Women's visor (generic Lions emblem), $7; Glider pins, $2; XL SS Shirts, $14.75, and one 2XL SS Shirt, $16.50. Web Happenings:

Our Club information has been submitted to, and we're awaiting their reply. They're supposed to generate a shopping page that matches the look and feel of our Clubs web page, and we'll stand to receive a share of the proceeds for any sales originating from our site.

Can you guess the location of the above image? Ok, I asked for it --- it's "above" this line. What's more interesting is that it shows Minier's and vicinity, courtesy of the US Geological Survey. Through you can get similar images of any spot in the US. It's free and easy to navigate. You can also find a larger image of Big Flats at our Club's web site under the "Where's Big Flats?" link.

King Lion would like to remind members of this year's Members and Money goal. One new member, and one new fundraiser. We can do it!
