Club News:

Congratulations to Lion Norval Johnston for earning the 100% Secretary Award! Our Lions tackled several events in November with excellent turnouts. First there was Adopt-A-Highway, where 9 Lions participated for a total of 35 Hrs, and Lion Gene Herber recovered $10 which was later surrendered to the tail-twister! Lion Gene Herber was in charge. Lion Harry King also relayed an interesting "highway happening", when the driver of a mail truck pulled over, approached Lion Harry, and gave him a hearty thanks! Next there was the Antique Show, where 19 Lions contributed 91 hours of community service to this worthwhile event. Finally there was Scouting for Food, where 23 Lions donated 80 hours to sort and pack 3,571 units of food. Lion John Hoos was in charge. In any month there are also smaller things that Lions do which mean a whole lot to people. This month, three Lions got together to help move an elderly woman from her home near Town Hall. They were Lions Merrill Lynn, Gary Bernhardt, and Charles Easterbrook. Happy Birthdays this month go out to Lion Gary Bernhardt, Dec. 5th, Lion Skip Smith, Dec. 15th, and Lion Harry King, Dec. 21st.

Board Action:

We received a note from DG Jim Killam thanking the club for courtesies extended during his recent visit. In fundraising news, an inkjet cartridge-recycling program has been adopted which will generate $1 for each recycled cartridge. Lion Don Williams is in charge. Antique Show & Sale -- Lion John Hoos will solicit help in moving tables from older Boy Scouts next year. A number of members forgot about the project and there was a shortage of help. Committee chairpersons are urged to call individuals prior to an assignment as a reminder! Adopt-A-Highway -- Lion John Hoos will request New York DOT for a reduction from two miles to one mile. Eyeglasses -- Lion Norval Johnston explained that the Club's policy of sending metal eyeglass frames for metal recovery only resulted in $15.89 for 258 pairs that were recently sent in and that he thought it was better to simply send all glasses to the Lions Recycling Center as a community service. This change was adopted. A letter of appreciation and $10 donation was received from Rev. Rick Price for use of the Lions Sign. A motion was adopted to return the donation, and express that we appreciate the gesture, and that our being able to help is reward enough.
