Nov 19th @ 7:00PM Board of Directors meeting at the Jay House (trailer next to Town Hall)
Nov 26th @ 6:30PM Dinner Meeting at Jennifer’s Restaurant.  Our speaker will be Rich Alred, Fire Department Chief.

 

Club News:
After a brief hiatus, the airport parking lot is open again! Members are reminded to allow additional time for security checks prior to meetings. Congratulations go out to Lion Norval Johnston on earning his second 100% Secretary award! IPDG Lion Jim Killam presented the award at our second meeting in October. Many thanks are extended to the Lions who contributed 45 hours at the most recent Camp Badger work party. There was a high level of participation in this year's World Service Project, with 32 out of 40 members ordering from the food list. The final tally was 51 cases of food valued at $530. Thank you Lion Jim Ormiston for coordinating this. King Lion Gary Bernhardt announced that our storage shed has been moved from behind Town Hall to its new location behind Minier's, and accessibility is improved. The first drawing has been conducted for Community Service 50/50, and this will provide $1,250 for the Community Service Fund. Thank you Lion Marshall Updike for spearheading this effort. Lion Al Draht has placed an advertisement in "The Shopper" requesting used eyeglasses. 

Board Action:
Lion Mike Yanak reported that sales of mints at Sam's Club amounted to $200. Motion made by Lion Mike, seconded by Lion Al Redner to send a letter and Certificate of Appreciation to Sam's Club. 
Board Action (con't):
Motion was made by Lion Al Redner, seconded by Lion Don Williams to accept the Red Cross challenge to have the Lions trained for response in Local disaster. Motion passed, and King Lion Gary is to select a chairperson.

Activity Report:
Two Lions were Big Flats Nutrition site managers for October and five Lions transported food donating a total of 55 hours. Two Lions donated 50 hours to the Big Flats Community Food Pantry, and two Lions donated 70 hours to the Steele Memorial Library. Other Lions donated their services to outside causes for a total of 284 hours. Four Lions visited Elmira Lions Club on October 24th. They were Lions Donna Barto, Rita Dery, Grace Yanak, and E.R. "Bim" VanEtten.

District News:
VDG Rich Shaff encourages us to attend the Fall Conference at the Waterloo Holiday Inn on November 16th & 17th. The conference will combine education, information and Club President recognition with a good dose of fun and friendship. PLEASE SEND IN YOUR RESERVATIONS TODAY!! MD-20 (STATE) PINS ARE AVAILABLE at $2.50 each. They are going very fast, as they are very attractive. PLEASE MAIL your personal order or your Club Order to DG Bob Mizzoni, PO Box 851, Montour Falls, NY 14865. For each pin sold, $0.50 will be placed in our WTC Disaster Relief Fund to be forwarded to MD-20 for distribution. ORDER FAST.
