Club News:
Lion Dan Ferrara gave a very informative presentation on Diabetes, Health and Fitness at our first meeting in March. Also in attendance were VDG Rich Shaff, Lion Linda Shaff, and Lion Dan McKenna from the Ithaca Lions Club. VDG Shaff presented Lion Gary Bernhardt with his 15-year service pin (congratulations!). He also commended the Club on its support of the Big Flats Community with many projects over the years, and he urged members to take advantage of the MD-20 Convention being held in Binghamton during the first week of May. Incoming officers were urged to attend Officer Training, which will be held on Jun 22nd at the Senior Center in Ithaca, NY. He additionally invited members to volunteer for leadership positions at the District Level.

Ms. Lee Hanle Younge braved the foul weather to attend our second meeting in March. She gave us a very interesting presentation on Radon in our area, its hazards, and remediation. Inexpensive test kits are available through Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chemung County.

Board Action:
Lion Mike Yanak, Chairman for Lions Mints, announces there will be a Mints sale at Sam's Club on June 1st from 10AM to 6PM. The Board responded favorably to a request to provide chicken barbecues for the Historical Society Open House on June 23rd and the School House Reunion on August 17th. Each barbeque would be approximately 125 chicken halves. Lion Don Williams reports that painting of the pavilion roof at Community Park would be during the second or third week of April, weather permitting. Finally, our Club received a thank-you card from Ms. Esther Barnett for hospital bed use and donation of $100.
