Club News:
Our first speaker in March was Joe Ponzi, Director of the Southern Tier Association for the Visually Impaired (STAVI). With humble beginnings in cleaning chairs and mending rugs, STAVI currently employs blind individuals for laser toner recycling and other manufacturing tasks such as assembling face masks. STAVI receives no State or Federal funding, but uses these profits along with private donations to provide exams, outreach, and financial assistance to the visually impaired. Way to go STAVI! At the same meeting, Lion Rita announced with a happy dollar that she had flipped her car on Chambers road and was able to walk away!

Larry Wagoner and Lion Mary Ann Balland spoke at our second March meeting, and brought us up to date on the new construction at the Town Campus and other happenings. The campus enhancements will include new space (above ground!) for the Code Enforcement office, a new Court building, and an overall architecture that is not only handicap accessible, but handicap friendly. Lion Mary Ann also listed a number of recent accomplishments and upcoming projects, and presented a vision of where the Town is going from here.

Lion Lance has been keeping us up to date on Lion Bim, and if you did not receive the email entitled,, "Swallow Test", please contact the Editor and I'll forward it to you. In it Lion Bim concludes that it's a good news / bad news situation - "A little like watching ur mother-in-law going over a cliff in ur new Cadillac-laugh or cry"! Finally, our Club received thank you notes from K9 Companions, Leader Dogs for the Blind, the Big Flats Food Pantry, and FLHF.

Lion Don Roe:
Please visit Lion Don Roe at Elcor / Maple Creek Room 50. He has entered hospice there and he welcomes all who wish to reminisce and say goodbye. Several Lions have already visited and found it to be a rewarding experience. Take care, Lion Don.

Board Action:
Letter read and discussed from Lion Barto regarding Vision Screening Camera for Neo-natal unit at the Arnot. The board voted to send in $100 in the memory of Jim Adamy. Motion made by Lion Tom Rhodes and seconded by Lion Judy Zimmerman. A copy to be sent to Lion Donna Barto and Lion Gail Cordes. The club has been asked to serve a basic lunch to the canoers who are traveling down the Chemung River on June 16th. This is a county event. Lion Bob Byland volunteered to chair the activity with several volunteers from the board volunteering to assist. Nominating Committee: Lion Rita Dery, Lion Tom Rhodes and Lion Mary Ann Balland.
