Club News:
In May, Lion Ralph Marino spoke to the Club about the school budget. His comments were based on a document called, "The New York State School Report Card - Fiscal Accountability Supplement for Horseheads Central School District", which he distributed to each member. Lion Ralph was able to join us for a quick dinner before attending another meeting at 7PM also at the BFCC. ZC Mike Eisenhart visited our Club at the second meeting in May. He provided some addional information on how and why the redistricting was voted down by the other District. Our district would have been 50% larger, extending to Brockport.

We also have several service-related announcements: Lion Al Draht reported that we had built our first portable ramp for RSVP, with help from Lions Tom Rhodes, Don Williams, and Al Draht, along with two Habitat folks, who contributed 30 hours. Lion Donna Barto coordinated three vision screenings in May at the Ridge Road and Center Street schools, and Lion Mary Ann Balland is looking into ways we can assist the St. Joseph's soup kitchen. We are looking for help with this, and also looking to share burden with two other groups that are interested in the slot on the 2nd Friday of each month (alternating months, for example). Finally, pictures from the SOS program will be published on our website & newsletter when they become available.

Coming up we'll have induction ceremonies for Lions Aaron and Amanda Manchester at our first meeting in June, and our Picnic will be August 8th in the Jacobus Pavilion.

Birthdays in June:
Happy Birthday wishes go out to Lions Rita Dery, 6/11, Gene Herber, 6/17, Dean Zimmerman, 6/29, and Dick Seely, 6/30. Note: Please contact Lion John Farr if this is your birthday month and your name is missing.

Board Action:
o Letter from Wings of Eagles museum / Ron Hudock: They have a candidate for the ½ scholarship our club will be awarding. He mentioned that he had not received a check (our club had asked for a bill).
o Email from David Marks concerning the Soup kitchen at Saints Peter and Paul Church located across from St. Josephs hospital in Elmira. Requested 5-7 people to act as servers on the second Friday of each month. Lion Mary Ann Balland to follow-up and get details.
o Note from Geneva Lions Walk/Run for Sight & Hearing, 5K walk & 10K run on May 21st.
Forwarded note from King Lion Bob Byland regarding Ithaca Charter Anniversary Dinner on Friday June 7th.
