Editor's Notes:
First I want to thank the Club and all the members who have been helping Sylvie and our family through her surgery and recovery period. It's a great club we belong to, and a great community that we live in. Second, I'd like to publish a better memorial for John Hoos than I was able to do back in February, as the news came very close to press time that month.

Lion John Hoos:
Our Club lost an active a well liked member when John Hoos passed away on Friday, Februray 10th at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. A Lion since 1987, John was sponsored by Lion Al Redner and in turn he sponsored Lion Lance Muir, and served on the Board for many years as either Director or Vice President. As a Lion, perhaps his most noteworthy role was that of Boy Scout Chairman. He held this post in each of his 24 years of service, always keeping the scouts in the front of our minds, and always running a smooth "Scouting for Food" event. In earlier days, John led many work parties for the benefit of Camp Gorton, and he was at the forefront of our initiatives to recognize local scouts who had attained the rank of Eagle. He was passionate about this, and believed it was important not only for the scout to be recognized, but for the Club to see the great things the scouts were doing. We will miss him for his sense of humor, his incisive intellect, and his supreme dedication to service, but mostly for his friendship.
